Youth ministry is very important at Hickory Street.
Much of what we program has to do with kids in grades six through 12 not only from within our congregation, but from the community
as well. The group is known as The Solid Rock and meets on Sunday afternoons from 3 until 6:15 for unusual Bible studies,
dinner, media devotions, The Survivor Guy starring Lt. Extreme, and occassionally, The Stupid Game of the Week. Retreats,
work projects, mission trips, and service to the church highlight the group's schedule. At least once a month, the
kids are off site involved in all kinds of things devoted to service or simply fellowship and fun. The youth's annual
dinner theater although a fundraiser has become an expected tradtion where the kids perform, help cook the meal, and serve
the meal. On Mother's Day, the youth lead worship and share their faith with the family and friends. Each
year is celebrated in the summer with a special trip to conferences, mission trips, and study trips. The youth have
performed mission trips from Maine to Virginia, West Virginia to Montana, and has attended conferences from upstate New York
to the Jersey coast to central Pennsylvania. It is an active, fun-loving, and welcoming group with Jesus
Christ at the heart of all it does. Laughter is its song and commitment its confession.
